Four interesting new supplements
These are supplements that have either been recently released or are new to me and are now available from my office.
Cereboost 6-hour: this supplement contains extracts from the herbs American ginseng, which improves focus and overall brain function, and Rhodiola rosea, which normalizes stress hormones, and therefore has a positive effect on irritability
, impulsivity, and other related symptoms. This combination is fast-acting and seems to be very effective. Early reports have been that children are more organized and pay more attention, and adults are more able to multitask when taking it. Though my sample is small, so far no side effects were reported and only one child appeared not to tolerate it.
Though fast-acting the effects of this supplement wear off within approximately six hours of taking it, hence the name. While not a complete or long-term solution, it can be helpful as a brain booster when a little extra help is needed, or for children having trouble focusing in school.
XanthiTrim: this newly formulated supplement from Pure Encapsulations may turn out to be a major help for people trying to lose weight. With ingredients like decaffeinated green tea extract, pomegranate juice and seaweed it contains nothing that comes even close to being a stimulant or an appetite suppressant that could be harmful. What these ingredients all have in common is the ability to stimulate the body to burn fat. Therefore it is no surprise that in studies it was shown to enhance the weight loss effects of diet and exercise.
Hair/Skin/Nails Ultra: these three tissues are all related. Nails are basically made of dried skin, and hair contains similar components as well. Because of this, nutrients or herbs that help one of these tissues often also help the others. It therefore made sense to develop a combination product aimed at helping them all. This new supplement provides a combination of collagen, antioxidants, vitamins and herbs all of which have been shown to help in different ways.
Many effects of aging on skin are a result of oxidative stress and this supplement includes a special form of vitamin C, plus sustained-release CoQ10. Both of these have been shown to counter these harmful effects while also providing health benefits for the heart and immune system.
Other components of Hair/Skin/Nails reduce inflammation in the skin that can be associated with different types of rashes or acne. Other ingredients were shown in studies to improve firmness, elasticity and moisture of skin while strengthening hair and preventing some forms of hair loss. I especially like this supplement because it works by improving health, not just appearance.
Ligament Restore: whether you are an athlete who is vulnerable to aches and pains, or just struggle with back pain, knee pain or other muscle or joint problems, this product can help you. It is an interesting combination of glucosamine sulfate, collagen, amino acids and anti-inflammatory herbs.
The anti-inflammatory components of Ligament Restore help stop pain naturally without the side effects of pain medications. At the same time the glucosamine, collagen, amino acids and some other ingredients like silica work to heal joints, ligaments and tendons and even encourage new cartilage formation.
