Neurofeedback update

As the school year is starting, many parents have asked if we could have extended office hours so they could continue their children’s neurofeedback after school or on Saturdays.

I am pleased to announce that even though the office will technically still close at 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday and 12:30 pm on Fridays either Allison or I will be available on some evenings until 7 pm and on Saturday mornings to provide neurofeedback. We have not yet decided on which evenings as that will depend on the requests for appointments we receive.

I have been offering neurofeedback in my practice for close to ten years. Earlier this year I upgraded my equipment by acquiring some of the best and most up-to-date equipment available from a company called Clear Mind Center – see www.clearmindcenter.com.

The new equipment enables me to do a brain map that reveals accurately and in a cost-effective way what is going on in the brain. If there is a problem relating to the brain, this may be the only test that will actually show where the problem is located, what it is, and what can be done to correct it.

Neurofeedback is based on research and it has proven benefits for the following conditions: ADD/ADHD, Addictions, Anxiety, Autism (high functioning), Brain Injury, Chronic Fatigue, Depression , Fibromyalgia, Insomnia, Memory Loss, Migraines, Chronic Pain.

Other conditions may also benefit from neurofeedback and need to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Basically, neurofeedback is a therapy to balance activity of the brain, and when the brain is balanced many other things in the body will also normalize.

Over the summer my new equipment has been in great demand and running almost non-stop, mainly to help children who had experienced challenges in school or were on their way to recovering from autism. Results have been very good but it is important to understand that this is a process of retraining the brain, and that takes time.

A note I received from a mother said: “Neurofeedback has helped my daughter in a number of areas: speech, behavior, attention and social skills. Also I have noticed improvement in her auditory processing.”

If you have any questions about neurofeedback or would like to learn more about how it works please call my office or email me directly at doctorvolpe@gmail.com.
